Brian Mitchell, Former NFL Standout Announces the Release of His First Book, “A Champion’s Heart”
Sachse, TX / March 22, 2021 — Retired National Football League player, Brian Mitchell will release his first book, “A Champion’s Heart,” a work of creative non-fiction for children ages 9 – 12 on May 5th, 2021.
Published by Coffee Creek Media Group under the imprint, Frog Pond Publishing, “A Champion’s Heart” features Mitchell’s rise from playing street football in his hometown to playing professional football for the Washington Football Team in the nation’s capital with a college stop in between.
Coming in at the standard 32 pages for children’s books, Mitchell shares sage advice on how any child, boy or girl, can become a champion by achieving their dream, whether that be a dream of playing professional sports or becoming a teacher, doctor, musician, etc. The book is divided into four “downs.” Each down features a slice of Mitchell’s life and topical lessons, such as prioritizing, appreciation, decision-making, and determination. Mitchell also shares winning plays; actions children can take to ensure their success.
“At a time when African America children seem more vulnerable than ever to negative typecasting and seem more likely to encounter demoralizing comments and a lack of support, this book counters that and encourages them. It shows them through words and pictures how they can be a success in whatever they undertake,” states Mitchell.
Mitchell played for 14 years in the NFL as a punt return specialist. The average NFL career lasts less than three years. Mitchell was also a standout during his college career, setting many NCAA football records. The life skills and knowledge he learned along the way to stardom are shared freely in his book.
Both parents and children alike will find this an inspiring read, one they will return to time and time again. “A Champion’s Heart” is beautifully illustrated and offers a cultural diversity that is lacking in children’s book literature today.
